What happens if you surf without a wetsuit?
Yes, you absolutely can. In water temperature above 63°F (17°C), it’s fine to surf without a wetsuit although the warmer it gets the easier. Below 63°F (17°C): you will quickly get cold and it’s hard to relax.
Can you surf in 60 degree water without a wetsuit?
Although you can surf within 62-degree water (17°C) without a wetsuit, it will be hard to stay in for more than 30 minutes without feeling the cold. Your best chance is surfing on a day without wind.
Do you really need a wetsuit?
First of all, if your event is going to take place in colder water, colder climates, or at higher altitude, then a wetsuit is a must, no doubt about it. Also, if the swim is over 100 yards or more, we highly recommend a wetsuit.
What can I wear if I don’t have a wetsuit?
Without a full wetsuit, you’re going to need to layer up to protect yourself from the cold. And it’s worth repeating again – no cotton. Instead, aim for a base layer made with polypropylene (or anything similar such as Under Armour cold gear).
Do I need wetsuit for snorkeling?

It’s completely possible to learn surfing on your own provided you are a persistent person, you have decent arm and leg strength and balance skills, you are willing to learn the surfing etiquette, and you have able to learn in a safe, beginner-friendly beach spot with small waves and low currents.
How cold is too cold for no wetsuit?
To the OP, technically, 31 degrees is too cold to not wear a wetsuit, as the water will be solid ice. You can swim in water as cold as you are acclimated to.
