Do water polo players play in deep water?
The sport is played in a pool that is two-metres, around 6.5ft, deep and a player’s feet must not touch the bottom. Both teams have seven players in the pool at any time, and when they have the ball a team’s players must be constantly swimming and have 30 seconds to shoot the ball.
Can you touch the bottom of the pool in water polo?
They are not allowed to touch the bottom of the pool and must tread water the entire time – although players use a movement called the egg-beater which is more efficient than the normal action of treading water. Players can move the ball by throwing it to a teammate or swimming while pushing the ball in front of them.
